All Our Exes Live In Texas is an Australian folk quartet who were a big hit at this year’s National Folk Festival in Canberra.

When We Fall is their debut album and was released a few years ago now.

It won an ARIA Award in 2017 for Best Roots and Blues album, which is amazing for a debut release.

The four members are Katie Wighton (guitar and vocals), Hannah Crofts (ukulele and vocals), Elana Stone (accordion and vocals) and Georgia Mooney (mandolin and vocals).

All four girls have delightful voices and produce exquisite harmonies.

They also write fantastic songs.

When you see them play live they back themselves with their own instruments and the musical backing is sparse but perfectly suitable, placing the emphasis squarely on their songs and harmonies.

On the CD the songs change from folk to be much more and blend of folk and indie pop/rock.

The injection of electric guitar and bass, trumpet and trombone, drums, violin and cello, and numerous other instruments augment the fantastic songs and vocals of the girls and provide a different experience.

There are several clips of the girls performing on YouTube, all of them live, but one with electric guitar, electric bass, and drum backing.

I think All Our Exes Live In Texas is one of the most impressive groups I’ve heard in years.

There are a lot of good singers around but it’s not often you find four super impressive voices in the same group.

When We Fall is a remarkably good album and one that I have been returning to over and over again.

Check them out on YouTube I’m confident you’ll like what they’re doing.
