Date: 9 – 11 April, 2024
Time: All day
Location: Online
Email: [email protected]

Increasingly in today’s business environment we are required to understand, analyse and present data. Tools such as Excel and PowerPoint are fine for basic data presentations, but when it comes to greater data challenges, we need more serious tools.

This course is designed to introduce both business and technical audiences to the basics of Microsoft’s Power BI application. The workshop is designed to be interactive and hands-on using a range of real-world examples, supported by clear and easy-to-understand frameworks and tips and tricks, which will elevate your practical skills for producing meaningful analysis of today’s data.

Facilitator Paul Hodge will provide expert guidance through the maze of challenges facing us when asked to analyse ever-increasing amounts of data being produced for audiences around the world. You will be taken on an engaging journey through entertaining and informative hands-on examples, and gain insights for the real-world application for delivering compelling Power BI reports that will help answer your critical business questions.

Paul is a university lecturer and data visualisation evangelist. He has a passion for exploring the intersection between data, design and storytelling. By elevating everyone’s potential to engage, inform and leverage design principles, Paul believes that we all have the ability to inspire people and share our insights in ways that can improve the world and make it a more interesting place to live in.

The program will support a new SES to take up the leadership (stewardship) and management (accountability) dimensions of their role, establishing the essential skills, partnerships and networks required for effective leadership.

The mindset needed to make progress on complex challenges at the SES level is promoted. The program draws on the findings of the Independent Review into the APS and recent State of the Service Reports, and reflects the leadership capabilities identified by the Secretaries Board for senior APS leaders now and in the future.

Training is in a virtual environment suitable for SES Band 1 – 3, appointment as SES within the APS or acting in the role for less than 12 months.

Change Management Practitioner Program

It offers a dual learning pathway. Participants who would like to build their personal change capabilities are invited to elect a change initiative that they will deliver/support for their agency – alongside the program delivery.

These participants will receive monthly coaching sessions (eight months) offering guidance and support in analysing, designing and delivering the change as well as consolidating their personal change learnings.
