Public Service fills senior vacancies

A range of senior staff appointments have been announced by the State Government.

Leon Allen was appointed to the role of Deputy Under Treasurer in 2020 and since April 2021 has been acting as Under Treasurer. He has now been confirmed in that position.

Mr Allen brings a wealth of relevant experience gained in State and Commonwealth Public Services, and in the private sector, including four years in the United States as Chief Executive and Managing Director of the Commonwealth Bank Australia in the Americas.

James Purtill (pictured), a senior executive with high level capability and experience within the public and private sectors, has been appointed Mine Rehabilitation Commissioner.

Mr Purtill has led large organisations of up to 2,500 employees and has broad experience in engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Paul Martyn has been appointed Director-General, Department of Energy and Public Works after a 24-year career within the Queensland public sector, with senior roles in a wide range of economic Agencies covering industries including agriculture, mining, energy, tourism and technology.

Linda Colley has been appointed Special Commissioner Equity and Diversity, Public Service Commission.

Before this appointment, Dr Colley was an Associate Professor of Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations and Leader of the Work and Employment Research Group at the School of Business and Law, Central Queensland University.

Her research interests include gender and public sector management.
