The Department of Finance has set up a new taskforce to support Departments and Agencies implementing the recently announced Machinery of Government (MoG) changes.

Announcing the MoG Taskforce, Finance said it would also provide project management for affected entities.

“The Taskforce coordinates and advises of key milestones to help enable the successful transfer of functions, employees, ICT, property management, procurement arrangements, financial and budget arrangements by the commencement date, Friday 1 July,” Finance said.

“The Taskforce supports entities by connecting them with appropriate subject matter experts within Finance, Australian Public Services Commission (APSC) and the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C),” it said.

It said implementation of MoG changes would be supported further by Finance through the facilitation of communication between affected entities to agree on tasks and processes, as well as establishing points of contact within Finance and across the APS for extra advice.

Finance said it was also assisting in managing the transfers of annual appropriations between entities, preparing determinations, and managing whole-of-Government procurement arrangements for property-related services.

Finance directed affected entities to its Machinery of Government changes: A guide for entities, published in partnership with the APSC in November last year.

It said the Guide provided practical advice to entities to support the implementation of MoG changes.

“The Guide also includes details of relevant entity contacts from PM&C, APSC and the National Archives of Australia to assist you on specific matters,” Finance said.

The Department’s 73-page Guide can be accessed at this PS News link.
