Enrolments open for school year 2024

ACT public school enrolments from preschool to Year 12 are now open for the 2024 school year, including the city’s newest high school in East Gungahlin.

Opening enrolments the Minister for Education, Yvette Berry said the new East Gungahlin high school was open to residents of Kenny, Throsby and specific areas of Lyneham.

“Canberra’s newest high school in East Gungahlin is also open to residents of Harrison, Franklin, Gungahlin, Mitchell, Watson and Downer, as well as parts of Ngunnawal and Forde, due to a one-way shared priority enrolment area (PEA),” Ms Berry said.

“Residents in these suburbs have the choice of enrolling in their existing PEA high schools or the new high school in East Gungahlin,” she said.

“Enrolling in a new school is an important milestone in every child’s life, and being among the first students in a brand-new school community while it is being established is a particularly exciting opportunity.”

Ms Berry said Canberrans who applied by 2 June would get an offer from 24 July and could start planning for their child’s 2024 school year.

She encouraged parents and carers to visit the Education Directorate’s website for more information and to learn more about what their local public school offered.

“Every ACT public school is a great school, and there’s a guaranteed place for every child in their local school from kindergarten to Year 12 to learn, grow and reach their potential,” the Minister said.
