Comcare has released its 2021 national return survey results, reporting that among the injured and unwell workers who were covered under its working scheme in that period, their returns to work were at high rates.

Introducing its Australian-wide survey, Comcare said it aimed to monitor and understand better its injured employees’ experiences of workers’ compensation, return to work (RTW) and associated support and rehabilitation.

The Agency said telephone-based interviews with 619 workers were conducted for the survey between 22 June and 30 September 2021.

“Individuals were eligible if they had one or more days off work and lodged a claim within the last two years,” Comcare said.

It said its headline results were:

* 96% of injured workers report returning to work at some point since their injury;

* 4 points higher than the national average;

* 70% report being back at work for at least three months – up from 62% in 2018; and

* 72% of injured workers report that their service expectations were met or exceeded.

Further highlights of Comcare’s results which include early intervention and workplace stigma can be found in its 3-page infographic factsheet at this PS News link and its 75-page Safe Work Australia Headline Measures Report at this link.
