A total of 40 finalists have been announced in the 2021 annual WasteSorted Awards.
Minister for the Environment, Amber-Jade Sanderson said that the previously named Infinity Awards were now the annual WasteSorted Awards, showcasing some of the most remarkable projects and individuals working across Western Australia’s waste sector.
“Around 80 nominations were received across 10 categories, recognising individuals, businesses, Governments, schools, community organisations and not-for-profits for their innovative solutions to reduce waste and promote reuse and recycling,” Ms Sanderson said.
“A stellar line-up of diverse finalists has been announced, highlighting some incredible projects and individuals working across Western Australia’s waste sector.”
Public sector finalists in the awards include:
* The State Government’s central development Agency DevelopmentWA in the Avoid Recover Protect — Commercial and Industrial Waste Award category:
* Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and DevelopmentWA in the Waste Team of the Year category:
* The Department of Finance in the Waste Innovation of the Year category: and the
* Manea Senior College and Mary’s Mount Primary School in the WasteSorted School of the Year category.
Ms Sanderson congratulated everyone who submitted a nomination for their commitment to protecting the environment, reducing waste generation and increasing resource recovery.
She said she looked forward to joining waste champions and their supporters at the final WasteSorted Awards on 5 May.
