Coolangatta views.

Said to be the Gold Coast’s secret haven, there are many reasons behind the feel-good ambiance of Coolangatta. To name a few reasons: sprawling golden sand beaches including the legendary Superbank (a joint venture between man and nature, offering one of the longest waves rides in the world), amazing restaurants and a slower pace with a down-to-earth ambiance. Another bonus is that all of this is only 30 minutes south of the central hub of action in Surfers Paradise.

The southern Gold Coast’s famous sandy beaches and world-class surf breaks conclude at Coolangatta, renowned for its casual beach-side culture. Spend the day surfing or swimming with the locals at Coolangatta, Kirra, Snapper Rocks, Froggy Beach, Greenmount, Duranbah, Palm Beach and into southern Rainbow Bay.

The northern end of Coolangatta borders Tugun and Currumbin, home to Currumbin Creek (a beautiful swimming spot framed by headland and popular for calm and clear waters) and also the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

There is a beautiful beach walk that wraps around Greenmount Hill connecting Greenmount and Rainbow Beaches. You can carry on up the hill to Point Danger where the memorial and Queensland/NSW border is situated. It’s also a great spot for whale watching!

No wonder then, the visitor numbers on the Gold Coast are strong. Another good reason to visit is to stay at the newly-opened The Sebel Twin Towns Coolangatta.

Accor, the largest hotel operator in Australia, has opened its first The Sebel branded property on the Gold Coast.

Following an extensive transformation and rebrand of the ocean tower of Mantra Twin Towns Coolangatta, The Sebel Twin Towns Coolangatta features 120 well-appointed guestrooms across five floors, including a selection of queen and twin rooms and king suites.

According to Twin Towns CEO Rob Smith, it’s a thrill to welcome The Sebel brand to Twin Towns after five years of planning. “The $11 million transformation has elevated the hotel rooms to a brand-new level of style and sophistication.”

Located on the southern Gold Coast, The Sebel Twin Towns Coolangatta is just a short stroll to the famous Greenmount Beach and picturesque Rainbow Bay. The resort is also ideally located for exploring the Tweed Coast region with Kingscliff and Byron Bay within an hour’s drive.

Stay at The Sebel Twin Towns Coolangatta from $179 per night in a queen room (Sunday to Thursday), including breakfast for two and Wi-Fi. Check it out.
