Gungahlin residents will soon be able to play tennis closer to home with the Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate’s Sport and Recreation branch inviting feedback on a new facility in the region.

Releasing its, Gungahlin Tennis Facility Landscape Concept Plan, the Sport and Recreation branch said the Facility was set to include 10 full sized courts, two hot shots courts, a hitting wall and LED lighting.

“The new Gungahlin Tennis Facility, which will be located in Amaroo on Horse Park Drive, will meet the needs of our community as tennis participation continues to grow in the ACT,” Sport and Recreation said.

“Important design considerations include the management of stormwater, traffic, site access and facility parking,” it said.

“The design phase has commenced and preliminary plans are now available for the community to view and provide feedback on.”

Sport and Recreation said plans for the Facility also included female friendly changerooms, a pavilion and parking.

Welcoming the opening of consultation, Chief Minister Andrew Barr encouraged Canberrans to view the designs and have their say before 19 August.

“Over the next four years the ACT government will also begin scoping works for future upgrades to the Dickson and Manuka pools,” Mr Barr said.

“This includes refurbishing the toddler pool at Manuka Pool for families to continue to enjoy in the summer months.”

Sport and Recreation’s one-page Landscape Concept Plan can be accessed at this PS News link and information on how to have a say at this link.
