Skills Canberra has launched a grants program for industry projects that deliver more apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities in Canberra as well as pathways into training.

Minister for Skills, Chris Steel said the 2020-2021 Future Skills for Future Jobs grants program will provide $990,000 for innovative projects delivered in partnership with industry to increase the uptake of Australian Apprenticeships.

“The Future Skills for Future Jobs grants program provides another important part of our plan to create and protect over 250,000 local jobs by 2025,” Mr Steel said.

“The Program will support Canberrans to attain skills that will be in high demand in the future and skills that will provide ongoing job opportunities here in the ACT,” he said.

“I encourage local businesses to consider innovative opportunities through this Program that will increase the uptake of Australian Apprenticeships.”

Mr Steel said the Program would address future workforce needs, particularly in growth industries such as healthcare, community services, renewable energy and cyber security.

The Minister said the Program was open to a range of organisations, including employers, industry associations, community organisations, Registered Training Organisations and Group Training Organisations.
