The Department of Education has unveiled a four-minute musical extravaganza film featuring 33 schools and nearly 1,000 students.
In a statement, the Department said the film, Born to be Brave, was shot late last term in 2021 and celebrated NSW public school students as they returned to face-to-face learning.
“The first of five collaborative items, Born to be Brave was digitally produced for the Spectacular Schools – Inspired project,” the Department said.
“Three lucky public schools were paid a visit late last year by the Department of Education’s Arts Unit in conjunction with Gravity Media for a full day of filming: North Wagga; Hoxton Park; and Busby West,” it said.
“The three lead schools were joined by feature talent Jazmin Castle (Wagga Wagga High School), Riley Lattuga (Campbelltown Performing Arts High School) and Micah June (Dural Public School).”
The Department said 27 schools, supporting nearly 1,000 students from across the State, also had their chance to participate in the collaborative item by filming their students in their local area and submitting it for inclusion.
It said more than 16 locally inspired works that showed off individual school excellence and innovation had already been highlighted in the digital showcase and more schools were set to step into the spotlight throughout Term One.
“The Spectacular Schools – Inspired project continues to be open to all public schools in NSW with local contributions welcome in all areas of the creative and performing art,” it said.
