It must be groundhog day.

I’ve just previewed the title song for Jeff Lynne’s first new album in almost 20 years and now I’m doing the same for the first new single in 20 years from one of Australia’s finest bands from the 90s.

The Badloves’ 1992 debut album, Get On Board was a huge success peaking at #5 on the ARIA chart achieving double platinum status.

It remained in the charts for an incredible 69 weeks and produced a huge number of singles.

Throughout the 90s the band enjoyed a run of hits including Green Limousine, Lost, Caroline, Slave, Barefoot Bride, Memphis, and the top five hit The Weight with Jimmy Barnes.

The Badloves signature sound was a heady mix of blues, soul and rock and front man Michael Spiby had just the voice to carry it off.

The moment you first hear Soulbrothertruckinsong you are taken back to the band’s heyday.

There’s been no tinkering with the sound, there’s the same authenticity Spiby established in the 90s.

I hope that this is just the aperitif for a new album.

The Badloves are back on the road and are appearing at Triple M and MTC Rocks The Racetrack in Wagga Wagga on Saturday 16 November along with Ross Wilson, The Black Sorrows, Richard Clapton, The Whitlams, Mental As Anything and Chocolate Starfish.

Now that would be a concert to see.
