The Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency has reminded Government organisations that its National Strategic Plan for Asbestos Awareness and Management 2019-2023 must be followed at all times.
In a statement, the Agency said State and Local Government entities were required to follow this National Strategic Plan through its reporting template when providing information to the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS).
“This template has been specifically developed for Western Australia. Please do not use any other template as it will not be accepted by the Department,” the Agency said.
It then listed some frequently asked questions which it said would assist Government organisations to report on their National Strategic Plan targets.
* Among the most important were: Why does my organisation have to complete the WA National Strategic Plan 2019-2023 reporting template if it doesn’t own any buildings, or the buildings don’t contain asbestos?
* Our Government organisation’s buildings are managed by the Department of Finance. Why do we have to fill out the WA NSP 2019-2023 reporting template?
* How do I submit a report to the DMIRS, on behalf of another Government organisation?
Perhaps most importantly: * What happens if we miss the submission deadline?
