ACT Policing is continuing its enforcement of public health directions by conducting compliance activities throughout the Territory.
Acting Deputy Chief Police Officer, Hall O’Meagher said 40 officers engaged with approximately 90 ACT hotels earlier this week (29 June) to ensure they were aware of current health restrictions and to check in with guests who had travelled from restricted areas.
“Checks of individuals who are subject to stay-at-home orders have also been conducted,” A/g Deputy Chief O’Meagher said.
He said ACT Policing, with the assistance of the ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA), had called over 1,500 individuals to ensure compliance.
A/g Deputy Chief O’Meagher said he was pleased with the number of Canberrans cooperating with stay-at-home orders.
“Everyone has shown during COVID-19 that taking collective action for the good of the community is important,” he said.
“We are urging everyone in the ACT to keep aware of the health directions, as they are changing regularly.”
A/g Deputy Chief O’Meagher said people should wear a mask when required to do so and follow all directions for their own benefit, as well as for the benefit of the Canberra community.
