The new University of Canberra Hospital is holding an open day this Saturday (16 June).
Canberrans are invited to visit to meet staff, tour the specialist facility and see demonstrations of equipment.
Minister for Health and Wellbeing, Meegan Fitzharris said the open day would coincide with the Hospital’s official opening.
“This is an opportunity for the whole community to come and check out Canberra’s new public hospital,” Ms Fitzharris said.
“As part of the open day, Canberrans will have the opportunity to meet staff who will be working at the Hospital and learn about the dedicated care and services that will be provided.”
She said there would be family-friendly activities, a sausage sizzle, live music performed by University of Canberra student musicians, tours of the facilities and demonstrations of equipment.
“The new University of Canberra Hospital will fill a unique role in the ACT Health system and deliver specialised care for people recovering from surgery, illness or injury, or experiencing mental illness,” Ms Fitzharris said.
“Since the beginning of the year, ACT Health staff have been incredibly busy getting the Hospital and its staff ready to take its first patients in July.”
T new University of Canberra Hospital is located at the corner of Ginninderra Drive and Aikman Drive in Belconnen with its entry off Aikman Drive at the traffic lights.
The open day will run from 11 am to 4 pm.
