IP Australia has released a package of patent information products to help researchers and decision-makers identify know-how, supply and manufacturing capability during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement, IP Australia said six interactive visualisations on ventilators, masks, surgical gowns and goggles, vaccines, repurposed drugs and medical diagnostics allowed users to ‘drill down’ into the data.

It said that in doing this, users could quickly identify applicants in specific technologies and different countries across the world.

“The interactive visualisations include links to full details of each patent,” IP Australia said.

“The package includes A Dose of Innovation: Patent Analytics of Virus Vaccines, a report on vaccines against positive-sense single-stranded RNA viruses, prepared together with the Institute for Glycomics at Griffith University and the National Foundation for Medical Research and Innovation,” it said.

“Maximising the value from research and new technology investments is essential in today’s competitive global environment.”

IP Australia said the data analysis provided by its Patent Analytics Hub could help users enhance their business strategy using patent analytics.

“Our data can help you make critical decisions with confidence; identify opportunities and potential partnerships; monitor competitive activity in your field, and understand and communicate the value of your product,” the Agency said.

“The Patent Analytics Hub at IP Australia is uniquely positioned, with access to more than 100 million patent records across 250,000 separate technology classifications worldwide.”

In addition, there was the in-house expertise of 400 patent specialists across all technology areas, ensuring that IP Australia’s analytics reports were relevant and meaningful.
