The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has ordered the suspension of mobile internet services in cities where examinations are taking place for entry into the State’s Public Service.
Secretary of the RPSC, P. C. Berwal said candidates were being frisked before they entered examination halls and a dress code was in place aimed at preventing “cheat notes” being hidden in clothing.
The extra security was put in place after an attempt to hold the examination online in March collapsed when the State’s Special Operations Group uncovered a “hi-tech real-time cheating racket”.
Meanwhile, the Indian Government in New Delhi has rejected claims that the upper age limit of 32 for candidates to enter the Federal Public Service examination is discriminatory.
In a written statement to Parliament’s Upper House, the Rajya Sabha, Minister for Public Grievances, Dr Jitendra Singh said the upper age limit could be relaxed for certain disadvantaged candidates.
Dr Singh said that otherwise the rule was equally applicable to all and the question of it being unfair to some did not arise.
India’s Public Service examination is conducted in three stages — preliminary, main and interview — to select officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), among others.
