‘How the House Works’ is a half-day seminar to be delivered by senior officers from the Department of the House of Representatives.
It is designed for public servants and others who wish to know more about how Parliament House actually works, including the role of the House and its members, the legislative process, and the work of House and Joint committees.
Do you know how your House works? Learn about Australia’s Parliament, how to follow legislation through the house or contribute to the committee process.
The House of Representatives is where governments are formed and where most proposed Commonwealth laws are introduced.
At the close of proceedings (approximately 12.30pm), in-person attendees will have the opportunity to attend the gallery in the House Chamber for a Q&A in relation to the chamber environment.
The seminar will also be offered on two other occasions in 2024: 24 July and 23 October.
