The Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) marked National Skills Week last week (23-29 August) by highlighting the career opportunities for those who undertake training in the renewable energy sector.
Senior Manager of Renewables at CIT, Ilsa Stuart said renewable energy created employment across a diverse range of occupations such as project management, engineering, design and planning and was led by trades and technicians, labourers and professionals.
“CIT has partnerships with leading industry in the sector and this gives students opportunities to train and practice with the latest products and technology,” Ms Stuart said.
“We offer training in Solar technology including Solar Photo Voltaic, Battery Storage Systems, Small Battery Training and Grid Connection Training for electricians and apprentices,” she said.
“CIT is also an exclusive provider of Global Wind Organisation (GWO) certified training in the ACT and surrounding regional NSW.”
Ms Stuart said CIT’s state-of-the-art, high-risk facility, in conjunction with its Renewable Energy Centre of Excellence, positioned it as a national leader in wind turbine safety training.
“Students also undertake training with wind power generation installation and maintenance,” she said.
Ms Stuart said CIT apprentices could also choose to do solar training as their elective during their apprenticeship.
