Are you mired in disappointment or resentment?

Bruce Kasanoff*lays out two ways to live our lives — and while our choice may have been made years ago, suggests it is never too late to change.

Welcome to Alternate Universe Day — that’s not really a thing, I just made it up to set up the next few paragraphs.

Today, you get to choose one of two lives.

In Life A, you will gravitate to the people and places that most lift you up, and you will joyfully embrace opportunities to do the same for others.

You will form deep and lasting relationships, enjoy spectacular health, and fully experience the best that life on Earth has to offer.

You will leave this world better than you found it.

In Life D, you will never let go of any slight, insult, disappointment or resentment.

You will carry every negative experience and belief like a badge of pride, bringing them with you everywhere you go.

That said, you will not go many places, because the collective weight of your baggage will be immense; you will always be slow, tired and encumbered.

(Important note for any anal types reading this: there is no choice B or C. Get over it).

Which do you choose?

Before you answer, take a moment to consider whether you previously submitted your answer many years ago.

It is, for example, quite possible that long ago you made the choice between releasing emotional and spiritual baggage you don’t need versus dragging it with you through life.

Did your parents “mess you up”?

Are your siblings “annoying and selfish”?

Do “stupid and ignorant” people surround you?

Is it “unfair” the way you have been treated?

If any of these statements ring true, you may have already chosen Life D.

No worries! Today is Alternate Universe Day (sort of).You get to choose again.

One last thing… to allow yourself to soar, I strongly suggest Life A, but that said, in my experience, most people choose Life D.
