South Australia’s Online Accessibility Toolkit has been recognised internationally and chosen for a Zero Project Award.

The Toolkit was one of only two Australian projects nominated for the Project award and was formally recognised at a ceremony at the annual Zero Project Conference in Vienna on 24 February.

Welcoming the win, the Department of the Premier and Cabinet (DPC) said the Zero Project recognised the most innovative and effective solutions worldwide that supported the rights and lives of persons with disabilities.

The Department said the awards featured 160 shortlisted nominations from 54 countries and over 8,000 experts voted on all shortlisted nominations.

“This award highlights the South Australian Government’s commitment to online accessibility,” the Department said.

DPC said that since the Toolkit’s launch in 2019, it had assisted public, private and not-for-profit organisations make their digital platforms more accessible.

“The Toolkit contains a wealth of resources, support and advice on visual design, content, user experience, development and project management,” the Department said.

“Co-designed with the community and industry experts, the Toolkit features resources, policies and guides, which are publicly available at no cost.”
