The Victorian Division of the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA) is to host its third biennial Public Sector Week from 19 to 23 August this year in Melbourne.

Public Sector Week has been initiated by IPAA Victoria to drive fresh thinking, cultivate new ideas and ignite positive opportunities.

This year’s program consists of 16 events aimed at provoking thought, enhancing networks and developing ideas in debates involving the big issues facing the community.

One evening has been set aside to mark IPAA Victoria’s 90th anniversary and connect participants to thought leaders and colleagues across all three levels of the public sector in the State including Departments, Agencies, Statutory Authorities and universities, as well as the private and not-for-profit sectors.

IPAA Victoria said the main purposes of Public Sector Week were to provide thought leadership, foster deeper consideration and debate on the nature and evolution of the public sector; build pride in, and enthusiasm for, being part of the public sector; and increasing understanding about the breadth and dynamism of the sector.

It said that in addition, the Week would be an opportunity to foster new connections and networks; reinforce the relevance and value-add of IPAA Victoria across the public sector; and influence the development of IPAA Victoria’s professional development and events.
