The lead single from Elysae’s debut EP, Angel (Wash it Away) is a haunting song about anger, pain, and finally empowerment.
I reviewed Angel (Wash it Away) on its release and it is a perfect introduction to her EP that includes her other songs that have been shortlisted or become finalists in songwriting competitions run by the Australian Songwriting Association and Listen Up music.
Melody Bites has already given the EP the thumbs up saying: The standout guitars in conjunction with Elysae’s voice and harmonies, really drive the dark and alluring vibe that she has created.
You Might As well Shout is a collection of moments from Elysae’s personal journey of finding and reclaiming her voice.
The lead single Angel (Wash it Away) has received considerable radio airtime and although it was first conceived from a very broken place the process of writing, recording, and filming the video clip has been a strongly cathartic experience.
As Elysae says: The process has transformed the heartache into connection and empowerment.
Its success has also encouraged her to release her first extended play.
The EP has been co-produced by Luke Carra (Caravana Sun) and Ian Prichett who has worked with Angus & Julia Stone, The Beautiful Girls, and Kim Churchill among others.
With a hit single and now a debut EP under her belt Elysae has achieved a lot in a short period of time.
She’s just completed her first ever sold-out headlining show in Sydney and I feel that her star is on the rise.
