The Chainsmokers, Disruptor Records/Columbia Records 2020
American Grammy Award-winning artist/producer duo, The Chainsmokers have released their brand new album, with most tracks featuring collaborations with well-known artists – many of these tracks have already been released throughout 2019
Amongst the collaborators is our very own Amy Shark, who features on the opening track, The Reaper. It is one of the best cuts on the disc.
Some of the other featured artists are: Blink-182 on the track P.S. I Hope You’re Happy, Kygo doing Family, and Cuban/Puerto Rican songstress Sabrina Claudio on the track See The Way.
I have reviewed albums by all of these artists over the last two years.
Only two tracks on the album do not have a featured guests.
As previously stated, most songs on the album have already been released as singles. The Chainsmokers are not alone in pursuing this marketing philosophy – it gives them a double bite of the cherry.
The album includes the singles Takeaway, featuring ILLENIUM and Lennon Stella; Call You Mine, featuring Bebe Rexha; and Who Do You Love, featuring 5 Seconds of Summer.
Together the pre-released tracks have clocked up over 1 billion streams, so the boys have hit a rich vein of form.
If you’ve already purchased the singles, then the album only contains four new tracks. You may wish to individually stream them to complete the set.
The Chainsmokers are the go-to producers at the present time and they have attracted the interest of a diverse range of artists who have availed themselves of their star-making production skills.
It’s yet to be seen whether their heavy production workload will end up curtailing their own performances.
It hasn’t impinged so far, as The Chainsmokers have spent the last few months on a massive North American headline tour.
