What does it take to create wealth?

What does money mean to you and how many points of view do you have about wealth and abundance asks * Gary Douglas, bestselling author of Money Isn’t the Problem, You Are.

Your points of view about money create your experience with money.

For example, if you have decided that you have to work hard to make money, you will work hard for every dollar you earn.

If you have decided that you have a money problem, you will continuously find yourself in difficult financial situations.

If, on the other hand, you choose the point of view that money comes to you easily and from a variety of sources, you will create that too. The common denominator in all of this is your point of view.

If you would like to go beyond the points of view that you are using to create your current financial situation and begin to create the wealth you desire, here are my top three tips to get you started.

  1. There is no formula

When it comes to creating wealth, many people look for the formula, the guaranteed method, the solution that, if followed step by step, will produce the desired outcome. This does not work. There is no formula. There is no answer. What there is, is what I refer to as ‘living in the question’.

Living in the question is the opposite of trying to figure things out. When you try to work out how you will make something happen, you go into figuring out the answer rather than inviting the universe to provide infinite possibilities.

Your mind is a dangerous thing. It can only define what you already know. Whenever you have an answer, that’s the sum of what can show up for you. But when you ask a question like, “What would it take for wealth to show up?” you invite the universe to support you in ways you haven’t even imagined.

  1. Educate yourself about wealth and money

My perspective of educating yourself about money may be different than what you think.

Reading a newspaper’s financial pages is simply information; most of which is based on economist’s points of view about consumption and debt. Their target is to maintain consumption so the economy grows.

The educating yourself about wealth and money that I am referring to is about looking at your personal finances. Many people fear that if they look at their finances, they’ll be so terrified that they won’t be able to move, and everything will worsen. The opposite is true. Once you know what it is, you can change it.

Have a look at how much money you currently have. What is your net worth? What are your assets worth? What expenses do you have each month? Looking at all of this is not simply so you can have an appropriate budget. Living within a budget is a great idea, but what does that have to do with generating money?

Looking at this is to help you understand how much money it takes to run your life every month as it is now, and how much it would take to run your life each month as you would like it to be. Now ask, “What is it going to take to generate this?” When you ask, the things that match what you desire will begin to get your attention.

Follow those things.

  1. Be willing to receive

Creating wealth is not about the amount of money in your bank account. It is about having more of everything you desire in your life. It’s about being happy.

Creating wealth also has nothing to do with what you deserve or how hard you have worked. That is not how the universe works. It doesn’t say, ‘You were a nice person today, so you deserve to feel the cool wind on this hot day’. Nor does it say, ‘You were grumpy and impatient today, so no air for you’.

The cool wind on a hot day, the warm sand on your toes as you walk on the beach, and the air that you breathe without a thought every single day are simply available, and there is nothing you have to do to receive them.

What if the creation of wealth came to you in the same way? What if it was as easy as the air you breathe? The reality is that there is no such thing as a money problem. There is only the unwillingness to receive.

Creating wealth does not have to be hard. No matter your current financial state, you can take the first step today to creating a different reality.

Tell yourself the truth about your current situation, get clear on what you would like it to be and ask for it to show up. Living as the question rather than looking for the right answer is when your whole world begins to open, and things beyond what you have ever imagined start to show up.

You ask. The universe delivers. Now, how much will you allow yourself to receive?
