Transport NSW is to boost public transport in the southern city of Wagga Wagga with 240 extra bus services due to roll out from the end of the month as part of the agency’s Regional Growth Buses Program.

Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, Paul Toole said the new services would support growth in the region and respond to community demand.

“In a first for Wagga Wagga, a new On Demand service will be launched between Wagga suburbs and the Bomen Business Park,” Mr Toole said.

“This is in direct response to community feedback,” he said.

“[The service] will support jobs and education opportunities by making public transport a real option for workers to get to and from the industrial estate.”

Mr Toole said Wagga Wagga was the second network to be revamped as part of the Regional Growth Buses Program after the Tweed bus network received an additional 450 weekly services in December.

Member for Wagga Wagga, Joe McGirr said the changes were a win for the local community.

Dr McGirr said all routes would start to run later into the evening three nights a week and for the first time, all routes would have Sunday services.
