The West Australian Government has announced it will offer subsidised airfares, accommodation and travel for tourists to the Kimberley as the region struggles to recover from last year’s unprecedented flood events.

The Kimberley Season Pass will offer discounted tours, accommodation, and airfares in 2024 as part of a $2.8 million package to support the region.

The pass offers consumer travel incentives including 50 per cent off Kimberley tours and experiences when booked through the Broome and Kununurra Visitor Centre, and $100 off stays at Kimberley caravan and holiday parks through a partnership with the Caravan Industry Association of WA.

The pass also includes discounted airfares with Nexus Airlines via a ”Fly a Friend for Free” promotion, which offers 50 per cent off flights when two airfares are purchased, while discounted airfares into Broome and Kununurra will also be available with Airnorth.

Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti said the government was proud to support the Kimberley tourism industry in working towards full recovery for both tourism operators and the region’s broader economy from last year’s flooding.

“I really urge our community, as well as tourists from interstate and abroad, to consider including a trip to the Kimberley as part of their travel plans this year – a trip that’s even more attractive now with these discounted airfares and other incentives,” she said.

“It comes only a few months after we reached a really important milestone in the flood recovery, with the opening of the new Fitzroy River Bridge more than six months ahead of schedule – an incredible achievement by all involved.”

Regional Development Minister Don Punch said the Kimberley Season Pass was an important step towards driving more visitors back into the Kimberley.

“We continue to do what we can to support our local operators who have been impacted by the unseasonal flooding, and this package is another example of that,” he said.

Kimberley MLA Divina D’Anna said: “These competitive rates on tours, experiences, accommodation and airfares will make it easier than ever for Western Australians and out-of-state visitors to travel and experience all our incredible region has to offer.

“With so many incredible, unique natural attractions and cultural experiences, we look forward to welcoming visitors from across the country to take advantage of these discounts and support the Kimberley tourism sector.”
