The Victorian Public Service Commission (VPSC) is calling on recent university graduates who do meaningful work, to expand their skills and realise their potential by joining the VPSC.

Opening applications for the second round of the VPSC graduate program, the Commission said the program included streams tailored to fit issues recent graduates studied at university and graduate pathways for applicants living with disability or who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

“We want Victoria to be innovative and progressive,” the VPSC said.

“So we’re on the lookout for people with a range of skills, backgrounds and lived experiences,” it said.

“Graduates in the program will access personal and professional training, mentoring from executives, training in general and specialised areas, and the chance to build networks with like-minded graduates across government.”

The Commission said the separate program streams looked for strengths in verbal and written communication; problem solving and analytics; adaptability; and teamwork and stakeholder engagement.

It said Victoria’s strength was in its diversity of backgrounds and lived experience, and it wanted graduates that reflected the community it served.

“We’re less interested in your grade point average and more interested in who you are,” the Commission said.

“We want people who are creative, curious, have a drive to learn and live our shared values of integrity, respect and human rights.”

It said applications were open until 29 August.
