Comcare has issued a reminder to employers and workers to remain vigilant and maintain safe and healthy workplaces as the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve nationally.

Comcare said that with a number of large population centres in lockdown, it was important for employers to monitor official State and Territory Government information and public health advice to ensure existing plans and controls remained effective.

“Comcare is also reminding employers to continue consulting with workers to ensure that risks are being appropriately addressed,” Comcare said.

The Agency said it had extensive COVID-19 guidance and resources to support employers and workers, including guidance and checklists for working from home or remotely; face masks and to how to safely wear a face covering poster; looking after Mental Health factsheets; WHS duties and risk management; as well as guidance and posters on maintaining a COVID-safe workplace.

Comcare encouraged workers, managers and supervisors to complete its self-paced online learning on how to safely wear face masks and maintain a COVID-safe workplace.

“Employers are also reminded to notify Comcare of all COVID-19 cases that are work-related, including cases acquired while working overseas, and should follow the public health advice in their jurisdiction,” it said.

“Comcare will continue to monitor the evolving COVID-19 situation and issue further guidance as needed,” the Agency said.
