Virus on the go at Crossroads

NSW Health has issued a stern warning to patrons of the Crossroads Hotel at Casula last week to get tested for COVID-19.

The warning follows confirmation last Monday of 21 confirmed cases of the virus directly linked to the Hotel.

NSW’s Chief Health Officer, Kerry Chant said anyone who was at the Crossroads Hotel from 3-10 July should isolate themselves and be tested, even if they were not displaying any symptoms.

“If you were at the Crossroads Hotel between 3 and 10 July you may be at risk of infection and you must isolate yourself to avoid spreading COVID-19 to others,” Dr Chant said.

She said that while investigations continued it was vital that people were tested so NSW Health could try and establish the source of infection at the hotel.

The Department of Health said that even if someone received a negative test result they should stay in isolation for 14 days.

“Attend a clinic for testing even if they have no symptoms, watch for symptoms and get retested should any respiratory symptoms occur,” NSW Health said.

“Several venues have been identified where cases attended while infectious or potentially infectious,” it said.

The Department also urged people who were at the Picton Hotel on 4, 5, 9 and 10 July, especially those in the gaming room, to self-isolate for 14 days and attend a clinic for testing.

“It’s essential that we all take the risk of transmission very seriously and take steps to protect ourselves and loved ones,” it said.
