Military veterans and their families can expect faster claim submissions and processing times following improvements made to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) MyService online platform.
Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Darren Chester said veterans and their families could now submit claims for Incapacity Payments online, one of the most significant enhancements to the Department’s services since the online platform was introduced in 2017.
“DVA’s transformation is about not only upgrading out-dated computer systems but also looking at improving our service delivery to ensure the best possible outcome for veterans and their families,” Mr Chester said.
“Adding incapacity payments to the ever growing list of claims you can now submit online is a significant benefit for those veterans and their families who most need to access to support quickly and easily.”
He said that by enhancing online services, veterans and their families will be able to access DVA’s services when and where they needed them.
“The MyService platform has already seen significant reductions to the time and effort required to submit and process claims.”
He said the MyService facility was continuing to improve and was focused heavily on collaboration with veterans and their families to ensure DVA was building the programs and services they needed.
“The online platform has reduced paper based forms containing 40+ questions on a single form to only 3–7 questions online and already had a significant impact on the average time it takes to process a claim,” Mr Chester said.
“In some instances the time taken to process a claim can be less than 24 hours.”
He advised veterans who had not registered with MyService to visit the site and sign up.
