Western Australians aged 16 years and above can now receive a COVID-19 vaccination at WA Health clinics.
In a statement, the Department of Health said it was the first opportunity for people aged 16 to 29 to get vaccinated at State-run clinics.
“They should start booking their vaccination appointment now,” the Department said.
“Individuals aged 12 years and over with underlying medical conditions; those who live in remote communities; or who are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people, are also eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine,” it said.
“The expanded eligibility criteria means more than two million Western Australians aged 16 years and over are eligible to be vaccinated.”
The Department urged eligible people to access the Roll up for WA website to register and said appointments were essential.
“This change in eligibility coincides with our two-week vaccination blitz, where it is expected more than 160,000 vaccine doses will be administered over the fortnight,” it said.
“To support this blitz and the vaccination program rollout, a new community vaccination clinic at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre has opened.”
It said the clinic would be open from 8.30am to 6pm seven days a week during the blitz.
“From 30 August, the clinic will open from 8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday through Saturday,” the Department said.
