Unravelling the Budget

Start the conversation

Ah the Budget!

I liked the good old days when the arvo newspapers blabbed on in bold headlines that booze and cigs were up and little else.

To understand the précis we get from the Treasurer at the despatch box, which is shorter than a mortgage request, you need a PhD in economics and a penchant for the manipulations of monetary policy as we watch how the big end of town salivates at possible tax deductions as opposed to us at the other end who quietly wonder when we might get those cheaper electricity prices.

But we have an election on the way.

Could we just fast forward and have a one week campaign?

Let’s face it we’re sick of all the shenanigans and will wearily vote, watch the results and go back to what we have to do in a world where electricity is ridiculously expensive, so too is gas but we just like the government move our money around and buy cheaper wine.
