One of the exquisite pleasures of living in publication land (as we who cobble together PS News do) is that some information-gathering weeks glitter like diamonds with typos, non-sequiturs and grammatical creativeness galore and others cloudy like stones, rendering very little for a voracious column like PS-sssst! to report.
And so it is we report that the past week has been uncharacteristically stoney with PS commentators, critics and correspondents seemingly conspiring to circumvent the uncovering of the aforesaid typos, non-sequiturs and grammatical creativities that so tickle PS-sssst’s seismic underbelly.
Could it be, we wonder, that all our rude nips, nibbles and nigglies have come home to roost with the collective PS concluding to cosset its communications and keep its corrigendum to a minimum.
We hope not and we’re confident the week ahead will prove us wrong.
Economic conundrum
In keeping with the newslessness conceded above, PS-sssst! has resorted to the unrelated and raises a question only a Government-employed economist could have an answer for:
Is it in the public interest that the board game ‘Monopoly’ is wholly-owned and produced by one single company?
What message are we sending to the community if we allow a monopoly on Monopoly?

Animal giveaway
To Rama’s weekly giveaway now in which 10 lucky readers have the chance to escape to the movies with five scoring free double passes to the film Animals starring Holliday Grainger and Alia Shawkat and another five a buy-one get-one free ticket to the same show, all simply because they read PS News.
To be one of Rama’s winners, she just needed to know the names of the two soulmates in the film (Answer: Laura and Tyler) and then be among the first 10 entries to escape from PS News’s infamous Barrel of Booty.
The first five lucky correct cinema-goers who secured double passes were Jacki G from the Commonwealth Department of Social Services, Yvonne M from Queensland Treasury, Martin D from the Department of Defence, Yusuf K from the National Measurement Institute, and Kate W from the WA Department of Transport.
The winners of the buy-one get-one free tickets were Claire W from the WA Department of Local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries, Kate D from the Federal Department of Education, Suzanna A from the Australian Border Force, Melanie M from the national Department of Home Affairs and Leanne S from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Hearty congratulations to all the winners and thanks to everyone who took part. The tickets will be on their way to their new owners shortly.

Good luck to all who do!
Lone reader!
And finally a warm welcome to the 400-plus new subscribers who signed up to receive their own personal copy of PS News in August, taking four editions – Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia and the Northern Territory – to new 2019 readership heights.
Of very special note is the NT’s second monthly increase in a row, building on its July record of 1,034 subscribers with the very welcome and cherished addition of one single new reader taking the August tally to 1,035.
At this rate the Territory could reach 1,040 by Christmas!
Something to say?
Till next week…….
