Unlinked drivers miss out on discounts

Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is reminding drivers to link their e-tags to their MyService NSW account as almost 40 per cent of eligible people are currently missing out on vehicle registration discounts.

Minister for Transport and Roads, Andrew Constance said TfNSW and Service NSW wanted to ensure everyone eligible for the Toll Relief program received the discount.

“We implemented the Toll Relief program to help ease the cost of living and we want everyone who is eligible to take advantage of the benefits they are entitled to,” Mr Constance said.

“More than $60 million has been collectively saved by drivers this financial year, with an average saving of $347, but data also shows that 37 percent of eligible customers aren’t claiming their discount, and we want to fix that,” he said.

Mr Constance said the program, launched in July 2018, provided free private vehicle registration on one vehicle for drivers who spent $1,352 or more in tolls in the previous financial year.

The Minister said drivers who spent $811 in a financial year were eligible for half-price registration.

“Toll Relief must be claimed by 30 June in the financial year following the year it was earned or the discount expires,” he said.

Minister for Customer Service, Victor Dominello said that once people’s e-tag and MyService NSW accounts were linked the discounts were automatically applied.

“Customers simply need to link their e-tag to their MyService NSW account and ensure that their vehicle details are up-to-date,” Mr Dominello said.

“Then when you renew your registration, the discounts will be instantly applied and you don’t have to do a thing,” he said.

Mr Dominello said people who believed they were eligible for free or half-price vehicle registration through Toll Relief, but were unable to make a claim when renewing their registration, could apply via their MyService NSW account to have the claim reviewed.

Further information on the Toll Relief program, including how to connect an e-tag to a MyService NSW account, can be accessed on Service NSW’s website at this PS News link.
