Transport Canberra has issued transport updates and advice to customers to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
The Agency said its highest priority was the safety of its customers and workforce.
“Increased cleaning is being carried out each day across the network,” Transport Canberra said.
“Hard surfaces across bus interchanges and light rail stops are cleaned daily and buses and light rail vehicles twice daily – this includes all internal surfaces such as MyWay readers, poles, stop buttons and seats,” it said.
It said that in order to keep everyone safe when travelling on public transport people should consider travelling at quieter times, entering and exiting by the rear door of the bus, maintaining physical distancing and practising good hygiene.
The Transport Agency said cash was no longer being accepted on buses with people using the MyWay card instead.
“Use of public transport in off peak periods where possible is encouraged to help avoid crowding,” it said.
“This helps with physical distancing onboard vehicles and at stops and stations – it’s also cheaper.”
Transport Canberra said people could use its online capacity tool for guidance on the quietest times to travel on its busiest services.
Its online capacity tool can be accessed at this PS News link.
