The South Australian State Emergency Service (SASES) has been recognised in the 2022 South Australian Training Awards taking out the Large Employer of the Year Award for the quality of its service to the community.

Presented at the Adelaide Convention Centre, the Service’s Chief Officer, Chris Beattie said the award reflected SASES’s capacity to provide skilled personnel to provide emergency requests to support South Australian communities.

It is the second time the SASES has won the award after being honoured in 2016.

According to Chief Officer Beattie, the award this time was in recognition of SASES personnel’s tremendous efforts, their professionalism and commitment to excellence.

“It was an honour to receive this year’s State Training Award in the large employer organisation category on behalf of the SASES from the Minister for Education, Training and Skills,” Chief Officer Beattie said.

He said the SASES invested a significant amount of time and resources developing and delivering training for staff and volunteers.

“Accredited and non-accredited training is part of our core business and underpins all operational capabilities across the service,” he said.

“This award is a fitting recognition for the staff and volunteers within the service’s training team and their commitment to innovation, quality, industry engagement and continuous improvement.

“Congratulations to all involved.’’

The Chief Officer said there were currently 34 different training pathways offered to volunteers, encompassing operations, incident management and leadership areas.

The Minister for Emergency Services, Joe Szakacs congratulated the SASES on the award saying it was a proper and rightful recognition of the extraordinary work undertaken by the Service.

He said SASES had a Registered Training Organisation in its own right.

“It is a great contribution to the South Australian community by an organisation that helps keep us safe every day,’’ Mr Szakacs said,

The Service was presented with its award jointly by Blair Boyer MP and South Australian Skills Commissioner, Renee Hindmarsh.
