To Australia’s national Defence Forces to begin with where being a lifelong member might end up being signed in for more time than expected.
Calling for members of the Australian Defence Force to have their say on the development of a new strategy for the forces to support their families better, the Departments of Veterans’ Affairs and Defence said they also wanted the families to join in and have a voice in the matter.
“A short survey asking questions on your family, areas of importance to you and how you like to engage with DVA and Defence is now open,” the Defence members were told.
“We want to hear from family members, aged 18 years or older, of current or former serving ADF members including those who have passed away,” it said.
Hearing from family members 18 years old or older shouldn’t be too hard to arrange, but PS-sssst! thinks the chance of finding a meaningful ‘voice’ from former members “who have passed away” might be a bit more challenging.
The heady headline
To a headline of horror now where well-meaning writers and rhymers have tried to put wit and wittiness to work to attract attention and catch acceptance and acclaim.
Did they pass?
On the road to recognition comes Biosecurity Queensland’s writing about a fishing competition on the Gold Coast in which a red-eared slider turtle had been caught, a highly invasive turtle that has no place in Australia
“The red-eared slider turtle is native to America and is listed as one of the world’s 100 worst invasive alien species,” the experts experted, creating a highly invasive headline of their own to get their message across.
And their headline of horror: ‘Fishing comp nets turtle-ly nasty reptile”
Totally!
Reservoir reserved
And from the other end of headlining, South Australia’s SA Water reported that the Myponga Reservoir had turned 60 years old earlier this month and was celebrating its birthday.
“Nestled on the Fleurieu Peninsula, Myponga was officially opened on 8 November 1962 by then Governor of South Australia, Lieutenant-General Sir Edric Basytan, following four years of construction,” SA Water wrote.
And it’s high-like headline?
“Myponga celebrates 60 years of dam good water”.
Dam good!
Enforcer a winner
To Rama Gaind’s weekly giveaway now where the time has ticked over for three lucky readers to become new owners of Rama’s Cuban mob video The Enforcer starring Antonio Bandera and Kate Bosworth.
To become a winner, all our winners had to do was name Mr Banderas’s next movie correctly and then have their entries among the first three to be plucked from the judge’s infamous PS News Barrel of Booty.
The correct answer to Rama’s riddle is that Mr Banderas’s next film is a reboot of his voice-roll in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish due in US cinemas in December, an answer that was correctly known by Carol C of the National Indigenous Australians Agency, Jennifer H of Queensland’s Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy, and Rod M also from Queensland in the Mackay Hospital and Health Service.
Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to everyone who took part in Rama’s race to riches. The winners’ winnings will be winging their way to their new whereabouts very soon.
For another week of giveaways, Rama has free family movie passes from Sony Pictures for the new comedy musical Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile which opens in cinemas on Boxing Day.
Rama’s free family tickets will be won by two families in each State and Territory – plus two for the Australian Public Service – open for grabs by readers simply registering their interest in this PS News link and her other giveaway Money Magnet: How to Attract and Keep a Fortune That Counts can be found at this link.
Good luck to everyone who joins in the fun.
Out but not about!
And finally, found on a pile of unread papers by PS-sssst! left by the now-retired Philomena S of Victoria.
Heard being whispered by a retiring workmate as he scratched his head and left the Public Sector office for the last time:
“It’s hard to make a comeback’ rambled the outgoing colleague, “when you haven’t been anywhere”.
Ka Boom!
How true!
Till next week…..
