Term 2 school buses just the ticket

Transport Canberra has confirmed that school buses are to continue to run through Term 2, despite only nine schools selected as Safe and Supervised Sites for students unable to stay home.

“If your child needs to catch the bus or light rail to school, Transport Canberra will continue to operate our normal bus and light rail timetable in Term 2,” the Agency said.

“A linking bus service will then pick students up from their home school and take them to their Safe and Supervised Site.

“This means that your child will be able to catch their normal bus from home to their normal school (regardless of whether the school is open in Term 2 or not), and then be picked up by a special linking bus which will take them to their selected Safe and Supervised site.”

Transport Canberra said the safety of children waiting for buses at their home school was its top priority and staff from the school would be supervising during that time.

“For students who attend Catholic or Independent schools, your regular school’s buses will be operating to take your child to and from school,” it said.

Transport Canberra said it would continue to provide the regular Special Needs Transport services to all registered students who attend one of the city’s four special education schools.
