TAFE NSW is to hold more than 1,700 information sessions for school leavers thinking about a vocational career.

Announcing the sessions, Minister for Skills and Training, Alister Henskens said potential TAFE students could attend the information sessions in person or online to learn about the more than 1,000 courses and recognised qualifications that do not require an ATAR, “from apprenticeships and traineeships to certificate, diploma and degree options”.

“The information sessions will provide prospective students the opportunity to learn more about the innovative range of course options while connecting with industry-expert teachers,” Mr Henskens said.

“For real-world skills and a job that’s in demand, explore TAFE and learn more about how you can gain an edge over your job-seeking competitors,” he said.

“The NSW Government is funding a range of fee-free courses and training programs to help people get the skills they need for the jobs they want.”

In a statement, TAFE NSW said to limit the number of people on campus, face-to-face information sessions were only available for those who were unable to connect virtually.

It said potential students attending sessions on campus could be accompanied by one support person only.
