Applications are being sought from students for the 2018-2019 ACT Health Vacation Study Program.

Run by the ACT Health Office of Research, the program offers university students the opportunity at the end of their second, third and fourth years to participate and gain experience in research at ACT Health.

To qualify, students should be studying medicine, medical science, nursing and midwifery or allied health.

In a statement, ACT Health said the program provided the successful students with an opportunity to learn valuable research skills which were an important part of university study.

“This program promotes the development of research skills in students which is becoming increasingly important in medical science training,” the statement said.

“Students will be paid a total of $2,500 for the six-week placement ($833 per fortnight).”

Successful applicants will be required to complete the ACT Health Online Essential Education module before beginning their placement. They must also attend a compulsory workshop on 23 November.

It said that at the end of the placement, students would be required to submit a project report and give a presentation on the project at a compulsory Vacation Study Program event in February 2019.

The closing date for applications is 31 October and further information can be accessed at this PS News link.
