The Public Sector Commission has announced that its School-based Traineeship Program is open for applications for 2022.
In a statement, the Commission said the State’s PS Agencies were now invited to submit a request to employ Year 11 students as school‑based trainees in 2022-23.
“Students across Western Australia who will be in Year 11 next year are invited to apply for the 18‑month traineeship starting in February 2022,” the Commission said.
“This program is a fantastic opportunity for young people to build their skills and kickstart their professional careers, and for Agencies to employ young people with innovative ideas, skills and knowledge.”
The Commission said the program was part of an overall effort to increase the representation of young people in its workforce and build a strong, diverse and capable workforce for now and the future.
“The twin goals of the strategy are to increase the representation of people from different backgrounds at all levels across our sector, and to ensure all staff in the sector experience a sense of belonging and inclusion in the work environment,” it said.
“Essentially, we want young people with innovative ideas, skills and knowledge to come and work for us,” the Commission said.
