Ten State schools have been recognised at the 22nd annual Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools.

Minister for Education, Grace Grace said the Showcase Awards recognised and rewarded innovation in teaching and leadership practice.

“I am very pleased to say the calibre of submissions and finalists was simply outstanding once again this year,” Ms Grace said.

“All of our winners and finalists should be incredibly proud,” she said.

“As well as rewarding great State school teachers and principals, the Awards recognise schools for delivering innovative programs that lift the standards of education.”

Ms Grace said this year’s Award recipients, along with the State and Regional winners, had shared in $200,000 worth of grants.

“The Awards program underlines the high quality of education available to students in Queensland and demonstrates that our State school students are part of a world-class education system,” she said.

The Minister said a total of 94 award submissions were received from 125 schools and programs involving more than 50,000 students.

Ms Grace acknowledged the support of the Showcase Awards sponsors.

“We couldn’t deliver this important program without the generous support of our sponsors,” she said.
