The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) has launched its Coach Summit Program, an initiative focused on enhancing professional connections and prioritising coach wellbeing.
In a statement, the AIS said the initial intake for the Program involved 12 high-performance coaches, all from different sports.
It said high-performance coaching mentor, Neil Craig would work regularly with the coaches in small groups during the six-month pilot program.
The AIS said the group would also come together for a two-day summit, to complement the learning and contribute to the health and wellbeing of participants, encouraging them to stay connected.
Coach Development Manager at the AIS, Bill Davoren said the coaches taking part in the Program represented a wide cross-section of high-performance sports, including Olympic, Paralympic, Winter and Commonwealth Games, as well as team and individual sports.
“The key to this Program is creating common connections among coaches,” Mr Davoren said.
“Participants will catch up fortnightly, facilitated by Neil Craig, to explore the unique demands and challenges of high-performance coaching,” he said.
Mr Davoren said this was a professional development opportunity to help progress adaptable leaders across sport.
“On top of that it’s also about creating authentic settings where coaches can share their real-world challenges and insights with each other,” he said.
“Our aim is that these coaches from all different backgrounds will be able to form a lasting connection with each other, so they can collaborate professionally, but also be a supportive network for each other when it comes to health and wellbeing,” Mr Davoren said.
