Homes Victoria has partnered with Jobs Victoria to create 200 new roles in the State’s growing social housing sector.

Announced by the Minister for Employment, Jaala Pulford, the Social Housing Employment Program is to secure work for social housing residents, women (particularly women over 45), people with disability, the long-term unemployed, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people aged 18 to 25, veterans and those from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

“Workers will earn an income while gaining an industry-relevant qualification,” Ms Pulford said.

“They will also receive mentoring support to ensure success in their new job.”

She said recruitment for the new Homes Victoria jobs, to be located in metropolitan Melbourne and Gippsland, had begun and would continue until mid-2023.

In a statement, Jobs Victoria said applicants would be able to choose from positions in tenancy management, building and grounds maintenance, cleaning and security services, and more.

“You’ll get on the job training to build your skills and get paid from day one,” Jobs Victoria said.

“Plus, you can do an industry-related qualification,” it said.

Ms Pulford said the Social Housing Employment Program would see the two Agencies partner with non-profit community services organisation, Uniting Vic.Tas and training, recruitment and employment services organisation, Qualify Training.
