Miley Cyrus has released She Is Coming, the first of three, six-track, EPs that are to make up one collection titled She Is: Miley Cyrus.

This technique has become quite popular with many artists adopting a similar approach for the release of their new material.

In the modern digital age with individual play lists etc. many artists have felt their album sales have dwindled.

They still want to make them, and this graduated release has many benefits.

Firstly, it maintains interest among the fans as anticipation builds waiting for the next issue.

Secondly it allows the artist to remain in the limelight while developing the new songs.

And lastly it also offers the possibility of doubling sales as fans purchase the finished product that usually includes additional material and artwork etc.

She Is Coming opens with the single Mother’s Daughter. It’s an up-tempo song that celebrates the strength of mother’s and daughters and it’s ready made for the top 40 stations.

If this EP is an indication of what’s to come we’re in for a treat.

I don’t know a lot about Miley Cyrus but I am impressed with this EP.

The songs are built around interesting rhythm tracks that contain a lot of space.

The music is mostly electronically produced but it creates intricate atmospheres for the songs.

Unholy is a good example. There’s acres of space in the mix that allows us to concentrate on the lyrics. “I’m a little bit unholy, so what so is everyone else.”

Miley has involved a group of guests to play on the tracks. D.R.E.A.M. features Ghostface Killah and Cattitude, RuPaul. This particular track explains the language warning on the cover.

Party Up The Street has a reggae feel and guests Swae Lee and Mike Will. It’s a laid-back groove.

To my ears the last track, The Most, like the first two, Mother’s Daughter and Unholy are better than the others, probably because they don’t contain rap passages, but I’m a little bit old fashioned.
