Vicki Bates and Perdi Mitchell accept recognition of Services Australia’s contribution
Staff members of Services Australia are celebrating their collective generosity after raising more than $230,000 in September to support the work of the charity the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
More than 2,500 staff members took to the roads and streets in the Alliance’s STEPtember initiative taking a mind-blowing 675 million steps in support of what they hoped would help bring about fewer barriers for people with disability in the future.
A spokesperson for the staff said they stepped up to support the worthy cause, while improving their own health and wellbeing at the same time.
“#STEPtember was an opportunity to positively influence staff health and wellbeing at a time when it’s needed most, while supporting one of our national charity partners,” the spokesperson said.
Health and Wellbeing Champion Perdi Mitchell said the initiative aligned with the Agency’s commitment to prioritising staff wellbeing.
“I’m so proud we raised the largest amount for STEPtember of any organisation in Australia and took out the highest overall steps,” Ms Mitchell said.
“It’s a testament to our staff and their community support,” she said.
“2020 has been a difficult year for everyone, so it’s important we continue to introduce inclusive, and accessible initiatives like STEPtember.”
Services Australia received awards for ‘Most Outstanding Fundraising’ and ‘Highest Overall Steps’ on the occasion with Ms Mitchell and Health and Wellbeing Director, Vicki Bates accepting the awards on behalf of all the participants.
Congratulations to all concerned.
