The issue here is the speed limit, not age, as we find out more about relationships in this romantic comedy starring William Shatner, Jean Smart and Christopher Lloyd

Moreover, there’s also a connotation on ‘senior’ in the film’s title. Age is not a barrier, however, for these three actors. At 90 years of age, Shatner ((as Captain Kirk in all episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series) is actor, author, producer, director, screenwriter, musician and recently became the oldest human in space. Lloyd, 83, is remembered for his spiky hair and wild look in the Back to the Future trilogy and now aged 70, Smart (Designing Woman) appeared on Broadway in 1981 as Marlene Dietrich in the biographical play Piaf.

In Senior Moment Shatner plays Victor Martin, a retired Air Force pilot and lifelong bachelor who relives his youth cruising in his mint condition, silver, 1955 Porsche 356. Victor is accompanied by his best friend, Sal Spinelli (Lloyd), a retired jeweller. They encounter Pablo Torres (Carlos Miranda) driving a vintage Chevrolet Impala lowrider and challenge him to a friendly drag race.

However, Pablo is aware of police presence nearby and drives within the speed limit, but Victor gets pulled over. The police officer recognises him as a well-known character in the community and lets him off with a stern warning.

On another evening, Victor and Sal encounter Pablo again and actually drag race. This time Victor loses control of the car, spins out and is charged with reckless driving. His licence is revoked and his Porsche impounded as a result.

Forced to ride the bus, Victor meets Caroline Summers (Smart) who owns an organic cafe called the ‘Cuckoo Café’ and heads a grassroots organisation to save the endangered desert tortoise.

Scripted by Kurt Brungardt and Christopher Momenee, the funny instances keep us smiling.
