Adelaide Metro has advised rail travellers in the Seaford and Flinders lines that its service is to be closed over the October long weekend for maintenance works on the Brighton Road level crossing at Hove.

The service said traffic detours will be in place with bus and trains affected.

It said substitute buses will operate between Adelaide and Seaford/Flinders Railway Stations from the first service on Saturday, 1 October to the last service on Monday, 3 October with trains resuming normal running from their first service on Tuesday, 4 October.

It said Adelaide Metro 265 and N62 bus services will be detoured from 6am Saturday to 2pm Monday and it advised travellers to check its ‘Service Disruptions’ website to find out if their usual stop is affected.

“Brighton Road level crossing will also be closed to all through traffic from 6am Saturday, 1 October to 2pm Monday, 3 October 2022,” the service said, “with traffic detours in place.”

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport said the works will include track replacement through the crossing as well as installation of new ballast and renewal of the asphalt pavement.

It said the changes had been scheduled on the long-weekend to minimise the impact to commuters and other road users.

“The Department apologies for any inconvenience and thanks commuters and road users for their patience while these important works are undertaken,” it said

“Passengers are encouraged to visit Adelaide Metro to check their timetable in real time and plan their trip with Adelaide Metro’s journey planner.”
