The Department of Education has announced that the second Game Changer Challenge is to be held in Sydney during Education Week this year from 5 to 9 August.

The Department has invited all schools to form teams of six students and two teachers to take part.

The Department said the teams would grapple with the question during the three-day exercise – how can we humanise technology?

It said the Challenge would involve 16 teams from schools across NSW working with Department educators and industry partners spanning educational technologies, creative industries and innovation to solve a complex 21st Century real-world problem.

Launched in 2018, the Challenge has become an annual event open to the 2,200+ schools and 823,000 students across the State.

It is designed to make strong learning and teaching connections to the NSW syllabus specifically in the area of developing general capabilities such as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, communication and problem solving.

It said the Challenge also provided teachers with an opportunity to gain exposure to the design thinking process and included teacher resources to introduce this creative problem-solving methodology into the classroom.

Details of the event can be accessed on the Department’s website at this PS News link.
